Julia X 3D reviewed at Fantasy Film Festival

If you're in Germany go check out Julia X 3D at the Fantasy Film Festival

Julia X - 3D

This internet date has gone thoroughly wrong. Bound and gagged Julia finds herself in the clutches of a perverse kidnapper. But she manages to escape from the remote location where “The Stranger“ has carried her. Together with her sister Jessica she now wants to turn the tables, and shortly thereafter all are entangled in a game of cat and mouse where no-one is what he or she seems to be. Only one thing is certain... a lot of blood will flow.

It is best to know as little as possible about the incredible film debut of director P.J. Pettiette, who is otherwise known as a producer. JULIA X is one of the few low-budget 3D movies that really deserves the addition to the title; for a finer three-dimensional view is rarely to be seen in cinema, in which the spatial depth is finally tangible as such. This rather intense shocker cunningly plays with each and every expectation of the audience, in the guise of a jet-black comedy. On the way to the final confrontation it dishes up a few selected atrocities, but thanks to the totally wacky over-the-top dramaturgy they don’t end in a splatter-overkill. JULIA X is an off-key, blood-soaked horror fun in a fancy look; somehow you would never have believed that actors like ex-HERCULES Kevin Sorbo or the human flesh mountain Ving Rhames are capable of those satirical evil side strokes. Definitely a ’must’ movie!

“Azlynn’s willowy and aptly wayward performance as Julia laces the film with sexuality and mania. … Kevin Sorbo is dead-on perverse … a mesmeric nutcase. Completing the terrible threesome, Alicia Leigh Willis is Lolita-ish alluring as the twisted little sister.” The Hollywood Reporter
“JULIA X borders on the creation of a new genre known as torture porn comedy.” 21st Century 3D

ESPN E60 in 3D

Once again, ESPN collaborated with 21st Century 3D to shoot the first ever 3D feature for their award winning show E:60. The subject, world's greatest knife thrower The Great Throwdini! The episode was shot on Phantom HD high speed cameras for super slow motion and utilized our latest BX3.5 beam splitter stereoscopic mirror rig with Angenieux Optimo DP digital cine lenses.

Mirrors were broken, glass was shattered and we had a very fun shoot that resulted in amazing slow motion footage and a great piece that is currently being shown on ESPN 3D. E:60 was the first news magazine show of its kind to be shot in HD and is now the first in 3D! 21st Century 3D was also responsible for ESPN's first ever foray into 3D with early Bristol, CT tests and Winter X Games 2008.

DTS Commercial

Los Angeles based production company A Common Thread brought 21st Century 3D together with Integrated Design Tools to shoot a DTS promo for the 2011 Consumer Electronics show. 3D was the hottest topic at the show, so naturally the spot was shot with two of IDT's 1020 fps Y5 HDiablo cameras on a 21st Century 3D BX3.5 rig in stunning, high speed stereoscopic slow motion. A conductor directs an orchestra of DTS speakers while vibrant plumes of colorful paint fly up into the air as musical crescendos play. Each detail of splashing paint is like an individual work of high speed 3D art. Truly a unique piece that must be seen and heard to be believed.

Mini VS. Monster in slow motion 3D

Filmed at night in a floodlit Las Vegas stadium on 21st Century 3D's BX3 rig and a pair of Phantoms this slow motion extravaganza quickly went viral on youtube as 2D teasers came out in anticipation of a full blown 3D theater commercial.
A sell-out crowd of rowdy monster truck fans is silenced when it takes to the air. In sensational 3D slow motion detail, the crowd rises to its feet - their jaws, hotdogs and beverages dropping to the floor - as the truck tyres skim tantalisingly close to the roofs of the four-strong line-up of: MINI Cooper Convertible, MINI Cooper Clubman, MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper S Countryman.

The Great Doctor 3D - Korean Stereoscopic Feature

The Great Doctor was shot on location in South Korea, and directed by Kim Jung Hak, Korea's most revered director.  The initial shoot was intended to create a trailer for the soon to be shot feature film and was used by Samsung in a technology demonstration at the G20 summit this past November.

Stunning visuals come together with ancient culture and mysticism in this, Korea's first stereoscopic 3D drama. Jason Goodman was the lead stereographer and it was captured using 21st Century 3D's BX3 setup.

BX3 3D rig on Scorio head on chase camera car

We spent last weekend shooting a music video in 3D that involved putting our rig with two MX Red cameras on a Scorpio stabilized head and driving the whole setup over the bridge a few times.

We were going against strong headwinds but the rig handled extremely well and we were able to get some incredible shots.
